16 Popular Apps Release Source Code

We’ve all done it… Wanted to know what makes something work, the way it does. Well, luckily a lot of time in the web development sphere you can get access to open-source projects and understand how complex application works, they’re written, and how you can contribute to the project in some fashion.

I just read an article from InfoWorld noting 16 Classic Apps whose source code has been release publicly.  This means, that many inspiring, new, or veteran developers can probe through these projects and see the inner workings.  Some notables on the list are: Apple DOS 3.1,  Word for Windows 1.1a, MS-DOS 1.1 and 2.0, Adobe Photoshop 1.0.1, SimCity and Wolfenstein 3D.

Let me know your thoughts on reviewing the code, and if you utilize any of it!
