Hello world!

Greeting earthlings.  Glad you found our corner of the world safely.  This is the domain where we’re dropping knowledge and shining light on the ‘cool’ table in the IT industry!

Yes I am techie, but also have personality (interpersonal skills) and can hold a conversation outside of the 4-walls of tech.  But with this blog I will be focusing more on technology and how tech can be, and is cool.  My overall objective with this Blog is to encourage more Black males to pursue technical careers, especially (web/mobile) application development.

So what makes me cool? Well, I have some cool things on my resume:

  • I first dunked a basketball in the 8th Grade and I was shorter a few inches under 6 -feet at the time. (My vertical has been measured in the neighborhood of 40″)
  • I played college football, and was a member of the University of Alabama Football team after transferring from the University of the South – Sewanee.
  • I’ve promoted and dj’d parties
  • I am an entrepreneur

And, what makes me techie (I.T.) ? Well, I have some achieved some pretty notable tech milestones as well:

  • I have a degree in Computer Science – Engineering from the University of Alabama
  • I have worked in IT since 2002
  • I’ve worked for a Mark Cuban invested cloud-based, start-up.
  • I teach a STEM class that focuses on programming and web development.

Although it’s been a long time coming, I’ve been wrestling with the decision to take on this journey, but I looked at the calendar and noticed this date is the birth date of the late, great Dr. Martin Luther King.  It confirmed and inspired me to look at him for inspiration, and take his example of making it cool to stand firmly for something you believe in. So with that, here I am!
