Shouts to Howard U for Edit-A-Thon

We all know somethings on the web aren’t true.  We also know that sometimes individuals may conveniently leave out factual information or intentionally omit to paint a certain light. With that said, Howard University, an HBCU in Washington, D.C., is set to Host Black History Wikipedia ‘Edit-a-Thon’ on Thursday, Feb. 18, 2015.  The purpose of the event is to research and rewrite Black History-related entries on Wikipedia.  Often times Black History may not be accurately known or told by the author, and with so many individuals relying on the research of the Wikipedia Community, I think this is a worth-while project.

I was very impressed with the closing statements of James Hare’s presentation: “Don’t be scared, & don’t doubt the value of your contributions.” This is a mantra for any IT professional, and for life in general. Try, and don’t devalue yourself.
